Polvoron

If I remember right, polvoron is made of flour, butter and sugar. You just mix these ingredients and then in a huge wok, toast the flour until slightly brown. Then mold the flour into a compact lump - there is a device that does this which I can't describe to you - sort of a cookie mold that compacts the flour - and then wrap the cookies in colorful Japanese paper - which by the way here in the US are those tissue paper that they line garment boxes. If you can't do this, and you reside in the US, you can go to Goldilock's Bakeshop - they have several locations in California and one in Vancouver and order some. The polvoron above, by the way, came from there. And no, I am in now way connected with Goldilocks.

Oh, a respondent e-mailed me that I lacked a basic ingredient above: powdered milk. Of course, how could I forget?!!! - added 02-21-00
