Manong Ken's Recipe of the Month - October 2003


Sauteed Mushrooms with Shrimps

This is my concoction.

Ingredients:

  • straw or button mushrooms, 1 can
  • 1 pound (half kilo) of shrimps, already peeled and cooked
  • onion, chopped
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • green onions, for this dish, I just trim the green onions of roots and tops, I like them whole here
  • 1 tbsp of corn starch in 4 tbsps of water
  • salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil in a frying pan or wok, sautee crushed garlic and sliced onion over a hot stove. When the onion slices turn transparent, add shrimps. When the shrimps are a little bit tender, add mushrooms. Continue to simmer. Add green onions.

Add cornstarch to thicken sauce. Salt and pepper.
